Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary


Situated at thirteen kilometre distance from Thirunelly is the renowned Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary Wayanad. Tholpetty Wayanad is on the road leading to Kodagu in Karnataka. However, Wayanad Tholpetty Wildlife sanctuary is situated on the lower  end of Muthanga wildlife.

The Tholpetty wildlife sanctuary makes for an ideal destination to visit for family especially kids. The sight of interesting wild animals and rare species of birds are any days an excitement, not just for nature enthusiasts but even a regular visitor.

Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary is home to nearly 900 elephants and sightings of langur, boar, spotted deers and Bison make for an excellent Jungle ride. At the entrance of the sanctuary, you can find a forest guide who can guide you through the sanctuary.

A two hour safari ride is arranged within the forest department into the park.  For the convenience of the tourists, the sanctuary is opened between 7:00 am to 9:00am in morning and 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the evening. The guide accompanying is mandatory.

Guided treks between 8:00am to 1:00pm  are allotted. Tholpetty Wildlife sanctuary is a brilliant trekking spot where a lot can be explored.  The red deer and spotted deer along with peacocks and peahens  during their courting season are a sight to watch.
